"Painting a still life always relaxes me. It is just me with my canvas, my oil paint, my paint brushes and my classical music....the rest of the world disappears. A still life is a fascinating composition of shadow and light...a symphony of harmonious colors. Technically I've learned the most from studying and copying still lifes from Dutch Masters. Walking thru museums, sketchbook in hand, I was always amazed by the beauty they created with such simple items like an apple. And when I feel the need to do the same I just have to paint a still life."
