LazaR's Art Gallery - Portraits

"My portraits are usually not just a face on a neutral background. I see my portraits as a painting with a person. I work mostly from a picture because it is very hard to pose for such a long time. I always want to meet the person who I'm going to paint, no matter what age. It tells me something about their personality and that is how I can create the world around them. I will not start painting untill I have the right feeling and a detailed painting is developed in my mind. The next step are the sketches that will get me to the final composition. Now I start using paint.
Some painters feel that portrait commisions will limit their creativity. I don't agree with that, it is very stimulating. It's an honor to be asked to paint a loved one."
