What is a Giclée print?

A giclée print is the highest quality graphic reproduction available today. It is a form of ink-jet print but it is important to understand that not every ink-jet print is a Giclée. Nowadays you can find giclée prints in top art galleries and museums around the world.

How does the process work?

First a high resolution digital reproduction is made of the original art work. Every little part of the reproduction is inspected for impurities before the actual printing will begin. The printing process is done with a special printer that uses miniature droplets of archival pigmented ink. The prints are done on special archival paper or museum quality canvas. The result is a giclée print that has all the subtile colors of the original art work. This result can not be duplicated by other printing techniques.

The first print is the artist copy. The artist has to approve the quality before the final process can begin. Sometimes several artist prints are needed to achieve the result desired by the artist. Now the actual reproduction can begin.

Lazar inspects and signs every Giclée personally before signing the certificate of authenticity. Now the art work is ready to be delivered to the collector.
